Lake Mary is a city in Seminole County, Florida, located 20 miles north of Orlando. As of the 2009 census, the population of the city was approximately 15,230. The city proper has a total area of 9.7 square miles Lake Mary was rated the 4th best place to live in America in 2007 by Money magazine.
Lake Mary’s roots date back to the mid 1800’s but was not incorporated until 1973. However, the chamber of commerce is one of the oldest in the state. Named after the wife of a minister who settled on the north shore of the lake, it originally began as two small settlements- Bent’s Station and Belle Fountaine. Current day Lake Mary, is the product of the 70s surge from Disney’s development.
