Orlando is a city in Orange County, Florida. It serves as the county seat and is ranked as the 5th largest metropolitan region in the Southeastern United States.  The population of the city proper is estimated to be 238,300 and the metropolitan population as of the 2010 census is 2,082,628.  

Orlando was founded as a result of the Armed Occupation Act of 1842, eventually becoming the center of a major citrus growing region.  Previously known as “Jernigan” for the first permanent settler, the origination of “Orlando” has a couple legends as to its birth. One is being named after a soldier, another being named after a character in a Shakespearean play.  Orlando has become one of the most visited tourist location with world renowned Walt Disney World just down the street.
